Indications for cervical spine MRI scan

  1. Persistent neck pain or radiculopathy, with 6-week course of conservative care and inadequate response to treatment.
  2. Cancer or tumours of the spine (cancer of the spine, spinal cord, or meninges)>
  3. Evaluation or monitoring of congenital malformations of the spinal cord
  4. Multiple sclerosis or other demyelinating diseases or myelopathies
  5. Possible spinal cord injury and post-traumatic neurologic deficit
  6. Post-operative evaluation, with new neurologic findings
  7. Congenital or acquired spinal abnormalities in children
  8. Fracture evaluation for suspected or known fracture.
  9. Severe intractable arm pain for more than 6 weeks
  10. Infectious or inflammatory processes
  11. Evaluation or monitoring of myelopathy
  12. Monitoring of previous spinal surgery
  13. Evaluation or monitoring of syrinx
  14. Spinal injury or trauma
  15. Spinal cord tumour
  16. Spinal TB
