Indications for ankle MRI scan

  1. Marrow abnormalities (eg. bone contusions, osteonecrosis, marrow oedema syndromes, and stress fractures)
  2. Synovial-based disorders ( eg. synovitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis, and ganglion cysts)
  3. Congenital and developmental conditions( eg.dysplasia, tarsal coalition)
  4. Achilles tendon disorders (eg.tears, tendonitis, tendinopathy)
  5. Infections of bone, joint, or soft tissue (eg. osteomyelitis)
  6. Osteochondral and articular cartilage abnormalities
  7. Abnormalities of other hindfoot tendons
  8. Plantar fasciitis, fascial rupture
  9. Neoplasms of bone, joint, or soft tissue
  10. Posterior tibial tendon disorders
  11. Peroneal tendon disorders
  12. Intra-articular loose body
  13. Sinus tarsi syndrome
  14. Avascular necrosis
  15. Fibromatosis
